H1N1 Influenza Virus (Swine Flu) in Kansas

Johnson County has 11 confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza, four cases in adults and seven in children. The first county case was listed as probable on May 1, with others quickly following. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) decided in mid-May that samples from Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas would no longer be accepted in the state lab (with an exception for hospitalized cases) as it’s been verified that the disease is indeed present in our community. The state lab is shifting focus to verifying the disease in other areas of the state. Here's what you need to know about H1N1 Flu in Kansas.
